Khushali Shah M.D.

Dr. Khushali Shah completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, where she served as Chief Resident, before pursuing fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at UCSF’s Francis I. Proctor Foundation. She earned both her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, a dual background that shaped her interest in caring for patients while also advancing access, education, and equity in eye care. During medical school, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition of her academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to patient care.

Dr. Shah is the lead author of numerous peer-reviewed publications in prestigious ophthalmology journals, including JAMA Ophthalmology and Cornea,and has presented her work at national and international meetings. Her academic and clinical interests include corneal transplantation and complex anterior segment surgery, visual outcomes after cataract surgery, infectious and inflammatory eye disease, and Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Shah is passionate about service, advocacy, and reducing disparities in eye care. She has volunteered with community vision screening programs in New York City and South Florida and has participated in global ophthalmology initiatives in Jamaica, Haiti, and El Salvador.

Dr. Shah strives to build meaningful relationships with her patients and provide care that is both highly specialized and deeply personal.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, biking, reading, and searching for the perfect cup of coffee.
