Sabita Ittoop MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. Dr. Ittoop uses cutting-edge technology to create customized treatments for her patients. Her skills include complex cataract surgeries, glaucoma laser treatments, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, trabeculectomies, and glaucoma drainage devices.
After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Ittoop obtained a master’s degree in Public Health at Columbia University prior to completing her medical degree at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Ittoop returned to Columbia University for her intern year and completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester, where she served as Chief Resident, before completing a fellowship in glaucoma at the University of Colorado.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ittoop has been an advocate for education. She is a Clinical Associate Professor at George Washington University, where she mentors ophthalmology residents and graduate students, and a Consulting Physician for Congress, the Department of State, and Maritime Medical Access. Dr. Ittoop is the lead author of numerous chapters and peer-reviewed journals and her work has been published in the prestigious American Journal of Ophthalmology and Journal of Glaucoma. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
In addition to her clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr Ittoop dedicates her time to community and international outreach programs. She has volunteered at the prestigious LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderbad, India and has provided eye care to remote regions of Ecuador.
