Cornea

The Cornea

The cornea is the clear, outer layer of your eye. It helps focus light and is needed to see. Eye Specialists and Surgeons offer the full range of cornea management and surgery. We evaluate and treat, Keratoconus, Corneal Ectasia, Corneal Dystrophy, Fuchs’ Dystrophy, Irregular Astigmatism, Corneal Erosion, Corneal Abrasion, Corneal Laceration, Conjunctival disease, Conjunctival neoplasia, Limbal Stem Cell Disease, etc.

If you have any condition requiring advanced care, please schedule an appointment with us.

Kerataconus

Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the typically round dome-shaped cornea progressively thins and weakens, causing the development of a cone-like bulge and optical irregularity of the cornea. This causes “static” in your vision and can result in significant vision impairment.

Fuchs’ Dystrophy

Fuchs’ dystrophy is a disease of the cornea. It is when cells in the corneal layer called the endothelium gradually die off. These cells normally pump fluid from the cornea to keep it clear. When they die, fluid builds up and the cornea gets swollen and puffy. Vision becomes cloudy or hazy.
