Our flagship Fairfax office and in-office surgery center sit just outside the District, making us one of the most accessible advanced eye care practices for anyone living, working, or commuting in the DMV.

Why D.C. Patients Choose Eye Specialists and Surgeons of Northern Virginia

ESSNV is a multispecialty practice, meaning that whether you need a routine eye exam, LASIK, advanced cataract surgery, treatment for keratoconus, dry eye therapy, glaucoma management, or oculoplastic surgery, you can find it all under one roof. That includes Wavelight® PLUS and the EVO ICL, which are widely regarded as the best LASIK procedure and the best LASIK alternative available today.

Our team has performed more than 100,000 successful vision correction surgeries, and ESSNV is:

  • The first multispecialty practice in the region to offer Wavelight® PLUS technology
  • The first in the DMV to offer the TECNIS PureSee™ EDOF cataract lens
  • Home to one of the the most experienced Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) surgeons in the Mid-Atlantic and DMV
  • Recognized as Washingtonian Top Doctors five years in a row
  • The exclusive provider in the DMV for CTAK treatment for keratoconus

We also operate our own in-office surgery suite, which means your consultation, procedure, and follow-up care all happen in the same building, with the same team you already know.

A Quick Trip Across the River

Our Fairfax office and surgery center are roughly 20 minutes from downtown Washington, D.C., depending on the time of day and your starting point. We sit just off Interstate 66, so the drive in either direction is refreshingly simple. We are also located right next to Fair Oaks Mall and just steps from Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

We are located at:

3998 Fair Ridge Drive, Suite 105, Fairfax, VA 22033

Our in-office surgery center is in the same building, on Suite 270, meaning your consultation, surgery, and follow-up care all happen at the same convenient address.

Getting Here From Downtown

By Car

From downtown D.C., the most direct route is Interstate 66 West. Hop on I-66, and you are looking at roughly a 20- to 25-minute drive (outside of rush hour) to reach our front door.

By Metro

For patients who prefer to take the Metro, ESSNV is reachable from two of the most popular stops in the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority network:

Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Station – Orange Line. This is the western terminus of the Orange Line and the closest Metro stop to our office. From Vienna, a short rideshare or bus connection along I-66 brings you right to Fair Ridge Drive.

Tysons Corner Station – Silver Line. Patients riding the Silver Line from D.C. can disembark at Tysons Corner and reach us with a quick rideshare hop down Route 7 and I-66.

Whether you are coming from Foggy Bottom, Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle, or Navy Yard, the Metro plus a brief connecting ride is one of the easiest ways to reach us without dealing with traffic.

Why We Love Serving the D.C. Community

Washington is a city that rewards good vision. The architecture is detailed. The museums are layered. The city is walkable. The neighborhoods change personality every few blocks. And the natural surroundings, like the rivers, the wooded parks, the cherry trees in spring, are a quiet counterweight to the marble-and-monuments image that dominates the postcards.

Most travel guides will tell you about the same handful of landmarks. Below are some of the spots our patients tell us they love most.

A Local’s Take on Things to See and Do in D.C.

For Food and Nightlife

The Wharf, on the southwest waterfront, has become one of the city’s most-loved gathering spots since its redevelopment. Boardwalk dining, live music, weekend boat traffic on the Washington Channel, and a fire pit that’s perfect on a cool evening.

For Outdoor Time

If you have never been, the National Arboretum is one of the city’s best-kept open secrets. Spread across hundreds of acres in Northeast D.C., it includes the famous National Capitol Columns rising out of a wide meadow (one of the most photographed corners of the city), the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, an azalea collection that bursts into color in spring, and miles of quiet roads ideal for biking or walking.

For Quiet Beauty

Just down the road from the Arboretum sits another underrated gem. A National Park Service site dedicated to aquatic plants, with ponds full of water lilies and lotus blooms that peak in midsummer. The boardwalks through the surrounding marshes feel like another world entirely. It’s a great spot for early-morning photography, birdwatching, or simply sitting still for a while.

For Art Lovers Looking Beyond the Smithsonian

The Phillips Collection is America’s first museum of modern art, tucked into a stately Dupont Circle townhouse. Its permanent collection includes Renoir’s “Luncheon of the Boating Party” along with works by Rothko, O’Keeffe, Bonnard, and Klee. The intimate scale makes it the opposite of an exhausting museum day. Instead, you can take it in over a couple of hours and actually remember what you saw.

For Live Performance

The Kennedy Center is famous for its operas, ballets, symphonies, and Broadway runs, but it also offers regular free programming through its Millennium Stage and a steady mix of community events.

For Saturday Mornings

Eastern Market on Capitol Hill is the closest thing D.C. has to a true neighborhood square. The South Hall is a working public market with butchers, cheesemongers, and produce stands. On weekends, the surrounding streets fill with farmers, flea-market vendors, and local artisans.

For Sports Fans

D.C. is a serious sports town. Nationals Park sits in the middle of a buzzy waterfront neighborhood that’s worth visiting on its own. Audi Field is home to D.C. United and the Washington Spirit. And Capital One Arena downtown hosts the Capitals, the Wizards, and most of the city’s biggest concerts. There’s almost always something happening within a short walk of Navy Yard or Gallery Place.

See D.C. the Way It’s Meant to Be Seen

Whether you have lived in D.C. your entire life or just moved to the city for a new job, life looks different when your vision is clear. At Eye Specialists and Surgeons of Northern Virginia, our team is here to help you experience all of it without depending on glasses or contacts, or to help you preserve the vision you already have through advanced cataract, glaucoma, retina, and corneal care. We treat patients of every age, with care customized to what each person actually needs.
